Happy Birthday, Mark Twain!

Born Samuel Langhorne Clemens on November 30, 1835, Mark Twain as he is better known is an author and humorist. Most noted for his novels, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in 1876, and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in 1885 which is often called “the Great American Novel.” His hometown of Hannibal, Missouri, provided the setting for both novels.

He was born during a visit by Halley’s Comet, and he predicted that he would “go out with it” as well. He died the day following the comet’s subsequent return, April 21, 1910.

He turns 176 today. How do you best remember Mark Twain?
