Born October 1, 1930, Richard St John Harris was an Irish actor, singer-songwriter, theatrical producer, film director and writer. He appeared in many stage productions and films, but is best known as Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter Series in 2001 and 2002, which was his last film. He also played major roles in the movies Gladiator, Apocalypse Revelation, and Unforgiven with Clint Eastwood.
He died of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on October 25, 2002. He would have turned 79 today.
